BOYNE CITY PIRATE FESTIVAL: Pirates invade Boyne City AND bring their Captured Mermaids with them! ⚓ This video features mermaids and pirates at the pirate fest, which is one of the most magical and entertaining events in all of Northern Michigan! The Boyne City Pirate Festival happens every year during the second weekend of August. At the festival, performers of all different sorts gather together to entertain people with their talents, tricks and their charming personalities. There are pirates, parrots, mermaids and more at the Boyne City Pirate Festival. At this point, it is only 2 years old... but even so, it remains one of my FAVORITE festivals in all of Michigan. ✨

📚 STORY TIME!!
Once upon a time, Mermaid Phantom and her mersister Delta decided to swim up to Lake Charlevoix to meet up with some of their mermaid friends. On their way to visit some of their friends, they were captured by the Pirates of Boyne City! The entire pod of mermaids were stuck on the back of things called "floats" and were paraded through downtown Boyne City. The poor mermaids did everything in their power to escape... they EVEN through gold coins at children and families to try to bribe them into rescuing them. But alas, the humans thought the tokens were merely keepsakes to commemorate the Boyne City Pirate Festival. Ugh... silly humans.

After a long and tiring time of waving to humans and trying to convince them to help the pod, the mermaids were led away from the crowd of people to a secluded area. Here, Zach the Pirate and Steve the Pirate (and an unknown pirate) realized how miserable the poor mermaids were in captivity. And so, they helped to sneak the mermaids off of the "floats" and released them into various areas around Boyne City. Some of the mermaids ended up in the river, some were taken to the lake, and Mermaid Phantom, Delta and Spirit were placed near a fountain (and were given water guns to protect themselves against bad pirates). All of the mermaids were very happy to be back in the water again.

Eventually, Phantom, Delta and Spirit were reunited with Ember and Neptuna down in the lake. Steve the Pirate pushed them in a "wheelchair" all the way down to the water (Mermaid Sparkles and Mermaid Lilly decided to stay in the river, since they were having so much fun there)! Once the 5 mermaids were back together they made the decision to hang out on the "boat launch" near the kid's area of the Boyne City Pirate Fest. Why? Well... mermaids DO love good music, and they DO enjoy chatting with nice humans. (Also, pirates are widely enjoyed as a salty snack in the world of merfolk...what better place to go than a pirate festival when you are feeling hungry? 😉).

While swimming near the shore and sunbathing on the rocks and docks, the 5 mermaids made many friends and even saw a few VERY furry pirates called "dogs." There was even a human child dressed as a pirate that defended the mermaids from other pirates who wanted to capture them. She will go down in history as the NICEST pirate EVER. ♥

Later in the day, Phantom and her friends met a lovely young lady who will someday make a wonderful addition to the mermaid community. She now owns Phantom's magical wrist gem and will hopefully be swimming with the pod someday. Until then... our entire pod is wishing her the happiest of birthdays this year! ♥
